MELBOURNE : SHOPPING PARADISE

 We went to Melbourneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
I don’t even know where to start!!
Our 2-week study break started last Friday after our stressful physiology essay test. Soo Hui and I went shopping and to Adelaide’s SkyCity Casino till late and I slept over at her place.
We had an international dinner in the West Campus on Saturday evening. It was alright. I’ll spare you any details that aren’t worth mentioning.
Not many cute guys there but there’s actually someone else from Brunei and he’s quite cute. Tall, pale and was more of a skater boy type with a beanie and baggy pants.
On Sunday, Soo Hui and I took off on our journey to Melbourne. It was alright, we couldn’t talk much on the bus because there was a movie playing, ‘Remember the Titans’ but I was busy playing with her PSP. There were lots of stops on the way to Melbourne and I couldn’t really sleep very well. It was freaking COLD! It was 6 degrees outside!!
I kept waking up at every stop that we made. I planned to have a nap when we reached the backpacker’s hotel… well…when we got there, it was alright… at first glance.
We got the twin room and er… when we got to our room (the lift was scary enough), it was just a narrow hall then a turn to the left was the bunk bed. Soo Hui climbed up but there was no ladder so she had trouble getting down. We changed to a double room which was a whole lot better.
 Places we visited::
The Crown Casino
It’s huge!! There’s everything in there. I wouldn’t mind living there but I’d have to show my passport every time I return, the bouncers always suspect me -______-

Some arcade near the casino
The arcade was much more appealing and we ended up playing lots of games, esp, one particular machine that gave us the most points, we collected enough points for some crappy gifts but it was fun doing so

Melbourne Aquarium
It was my first time in such a place and it was BRILLIANT!!! I love the sharks and manta rays! The elephant fish were so happy to see us, they kept trying to hop out of the tank… but I suppose it could be that they wanted to hop into the arms of the cute guy that was beside me. Pervert fish.

Chinatown
It’s so much better than our own Chinatown here in Adelaide… :(
ARGHH!! I definitely spotted quite a number of cute guys along the roads of Chinatown.

Queen Victoria Market
They sell EVERYTHING here!!! I bought this lovely white jacket that everyone is SOOOOOO jealous of. KAKAKAKA!

Melbourne
Central & Myers
Well… they have NOTHING like this in Adelaide!!
But we didn’t really buy anything from here because everything seemed suspiciously overpriced despite the sale. I did get a while purse though and earrings for Debbie.
 Yarra River
We actually wanted to go biking but I thought that fifteen dollars was a little pricey for a ride around so poor Soo Hui didn’t get a chance to ride. We then walked around until we got to some stadiums where I believed the ‘Melbourne Open’ was held. We could see the Olympic stadium as well. It was a little strange being in such a place where talented athletes come to compete. Can you imagine all that drama that goes on in there???

Bourke Street
This is where a lot of shops are found. The heart of shopping paradise.
Soo Hui bought her Nike shoes here. Let’s just say that they’re extremely comfy.
I don’t think we went anywhere else. We only had three days there and we were almost bored by the second day. Yes, we are hard people to please.
I found out that Soo Hui and I are very different, despite a bit of bickering here and there as well as getting confused with the map (we’re very bad with directions)
I didn’t manage to pretend I’m a lost tourist and ask help from good-looking locals. Although there were about two people who came up to us and asked us for directions. I can proudly say that I was able to help one because Delone was doing most of the talking and I was just pointing to where he was mentioning. Oh, yeah, we met up with Delone. He seemed like a busy fella and we only hung out with him for about an hour. He’s quite nice and he treated us to boost juice.
I can’t comment on the guys because I spent most of my time looking at the map. Although there are a lot of Asians here… About half of the population (FYI which is about 5.4 million), yeah, half of that are Asians. Melbourne has like one sixth of the total population of Australia.
Soo Hui says that she might be going to Melbourne to study by the second semester. I’m kinda torn between acting like the encouraging friend and a total selfish bitch. She’s kinda like my only good friend here in Adelaide, outside of my circle of friends.
NGEH.

Oh, and we heard a couple making out in the other room next to ours on our last day. They got back in and she was kinda drunk. They were talking in a slurry manner and started doing it. It was REALLY, REALLY, REALLY weird. It was awful!! Soo Hui shot up from bed and went, “Lishaaaaaa~”
I was like, “This is so weird!”
Then we laughed because it was funny too. Ugh….
Then they argued and the guy said that he had to leave but then they made up and started doing it AGAIN.
By this time, Soo Hui was already asleep and I was pretty much annoyed.
Oh, Soo Hui and I will never EVER stay in a backpackers’ hotel EVER again.
Well, it was really fun though despite it all :)
I would really love to post up pictures but I can’t be bothered.
Soo Hui’s mom is most likely coming next week to Melbourne with a friend to go around shopping and stuff.
So my mom can pack some stuff for her to bring to me!! YAY!!!
